Lucy Marie (Roberts) Scott

Portrait of Lucy Marie (Roberts) Scott

Lucy Marie (Roberts) Scott, 75, of Williamstown passed away April 20, 2020 with family by her side.  She was the only child born to the late Ralph Paxton Roberts and Jeanette (Mildren) Roberts, November 24, 1944, in Marietta, Ohio. She moved to Delray Beach, Florida at a young age and returned to Marietta in 1957. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1963.

She married Richard H. Scott in December of 1963 and they remained in Marietta until relocating to Williamstown in 1978. She worked for Dr. James Mills, DDS for 11 years then went on to work with her husband at Al-Cott Marine Service. Lucy is survived by her husband Richard, son Robert, granddaughter Sophia Scott and her mother Kelly. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jill (Gus) Poldemann, Becky Scott and Sheila (Mark) Zeune; nieces Kristin (Wayne) Bartholomew and Meagan (Daniel) Tehua and several nieces. Lucy was preceded in passing by her beloved daughter, Ashlee Scott and by her parents and parents-in-law, Bob and Jane Scott.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a hospice volunteer for 12 years and active in Gilman United Methodist Church where she was very involved with the After School Program and Grief Share. She loved all animals and was an active supporter of the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley. She had a great group of friends, and an “adopted” daughter, Amanda Satterfield, with whom she enjoyed attending plays, antiquing, playing Bunco and going out to eat. She was known for her infectious smile, positive outlook and random acts of kindness. On the 5th anniversary of her daughter, Ashlee’s, passing she was bestowed her greatest blessing, a granddaughter named Sophia who affectionately called her “Old Mimi”. Lucy would often say, “God is good, and life goes on!”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date at Gilman United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to make a donation to the Humane Society or Gilman United Methodist Church’s food pantry. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral is assisting the family. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
