JoAnne Huffman

JoAnne Huffman, 83, of Marietta, went home to be with her Savior Friday Evening. May 1, 2020 at Heartland of Marietta, where she resided for the past few months.
Born in Elyria. OH, as JoAnne Carr April 6th 1937. JoAnne graduated from Elyria High School. After graduation she married her favorite U.S. Navy WW II Navy Veteran, Ronald Huffman. They led an itinerant lifestyle, as they moved among job sites for Marietta Concrete. Along the way, they were united with their newborn daughter Cathey, who became the light of their lives. JoAnne’s lone remaining family, dear brother. Ronald (Rick) and wife, Diane Carr remain in her hometown of Elyria.
The One who rescued JoAnne some 45 years ago, whom she loved and trusted with all her heart, ushered her into His Presence Friday evening. After a rough nine months of transitions since daughter, Cathey, went to heaven in August, and husband Ronnie already being there 4 years, JoAnne was ready to go.
Being one changed person after trusting Jesus as her Savior some 45 years ago, JoAnne had a voracious appetite for God’s Word and believed in the power of prayer. Many years thereafter she spent Saturdays knocking on doors, asking children to Sunday School and then seeing they got there on Sundays. She loved women’s conferences and Bible seminars, resulting in volumes of copious hand-written notes.
Living simply and giving sacrificially, JoAnne and Ron faithfully supported God’s work and God’s missionary servants at home and around the world, confident this was the best investment of their resources. They wanted everyone to know the same Jesus who had changed their lives.
While after returning to Marietta. they operating the Ashland Oil distributorship and Huffman’s Trailer Park in Reno, but they were probably best known by many for managing Rinky Dinks Flea Market. JoAnne’s greatest enjoyment (along with Ronnie & Cathey), however, was serving God together with Seedline Ministries in their local church. Weekly they spent hours assembling booklets of John and Romans for Hispanics and others, doing their part to help spread the Gospel to many who have never heard.
JoAnne was an active and faithful member of Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church and loved her church family. There will be a small private gathering Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park lead by Pastor Robert Hughes. A celebration of life is planned for a later date. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
