Virginia Haley Weinstock, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, died on June 1, 2020.
She was born in Athens, Ohio, March 31, 1930, daughter of the late Dewey George and Margaret Hankison Haley. In October, 1991, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Weinstock, whom she married May 30, 1951, and by her sister Jean Elizabeth Haley. Virginia graduated from Marietta High School.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Marietta, Ohio, and the Rebecca-Ruth Circle. She was a seventy-year member of the. Marietta Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 59 and Marietta Shrine No. 12 White Shrine of Jerusalem. She had served on the Woman’s Home Board and the Girls’ Board of the Betsy Mills Club. Along with her husband, she greatly enjoyed her service to the YMCA as a member of the Y’s Men.
She loved her home and gardens and was pleased when her yard was chosen for the Garden Tour. An avid animal lover, she cherished her dogs and cats and eagerly told that her last few dogs were rescues who, with her, lived an incredible life with much love and many treats.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Morgan (David) and Rebecca Philbin (Patrick) and her grandson, Lt. Sean Haley Philbin. She was so proud of his accomplishments at Annapolis Naval Academy, Georgetown University, and his service to his country. She has three step-grandchildren, Courtney Crater (Tom), Cynthia Ruppert (Peter) and Dr. Celena Keeney (John) and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 11:00 with Rev. Karen Muntzing officiating. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
