John D. Hoffman

John D. Hoffman of Columbus passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus.

He was born on March 13, 1916, in Wade, Ohio, to Maude L. (Springer) and Oran D. Hoffman.  He was a veteran of World War II and a licensed pilot.  He had been employed by Curtiss-Wright, North American Aviation, North American Rockwell and retired from Rockwell International (Boeing).  He was also a member of the NRA.

John is survived by daughters: Susan (Craig) Tice of Galena and Merryl (Mick) Walker of Lafayette, TN; grandson Brian Dill of Columbus and sister-in-law Louise “Honey” Potts of  Sardis.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Hedinger Hoffman in 1993, parents and stepfather Edward Workmaster, sisters:  Mary Lauer, Helen Pfaff and Carol Hoffman, and 2 infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2nd, at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with interment in Newport Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home 2 hours before the service on Wednesday.
