Norma Rae O’Brien

Norma Rae O'Brien (Bartlett), age 86, of Marietta, passed away at Emeritus at Pinnacle in Grove City, Ohio on August 8, 2010 after a long illness.

She was born in Marietta, Ohio, the youngest of three daughters, to Howard and Carrie Bartlett. She grew up working on her parent's farm in Oak Grove, but left to support the war effort during WWII by working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She was a home maker, a long-time member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church, an avid seamstress, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made the best strawberry jam and potato salad and loved to travel.

On February 24, 1946, she married her loving husband Charles H. O'Brien. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children: Phillip (Cynda) O'Brien of Marietta, Chari (Bruce) Becker of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jacqueline O'Brien (John Tipton) of Grove City, Ohio; grandchildren: Heather (Steve) Copley, Aaron (Lauren) O'Brien, Michele (Michael) Tylka, Britne (Joseph) Gleason, Zachary (Jennifer) Becker, Ariel Tipton; and great-grandchildren Charlie Copley, Andrew, Evan, and Megan Tylka, Eden Gleason, and Ava Becker

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Dorothy Herbert and Juanita Fouss.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 12th from 4 – 7 at McClure – Schafer- Lankford Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 13 at St. Paul's Evangelical Church, 401 5th Street, Marietta, with Rev. Thomas Hendershot officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice.
