Jeanette Louise Barker

Jeanette Louise Barker, 90, of 623 Virginia St. passed away at 10:17 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was the last survivor of ten children. Ms. Barker was born on December 5, 1933 in Cleveland, OH to Valmond, Sr. and Gladys (Thomas) Barker. She worked for many years as a secretary for Evenflo and Flood Company. Ms. Barker never married and never had children, however she had great pleasure in being an aunt, a great aunt and a great, great aunt. There was never a dull moment around Jeanette/ Aunt Jeanette/ AJ/ Aunt Jay/ Nanettles. She was quite the life of the party. She was caring, loving, gracious, giving, comical and witty, even up until the very end. She will be missed by many as she was loved by all who were blessed with her presence. Favorite memories include getting her cheeseburger happy meal weekly, baking sauerkraut balls and Christmas cookies with the family during the holidays and always being a kid (last Easter Egg Hunt was 3 years ago). She loved to tell anyone and everyone stories about her great, great nieces and nephew, as they were the highlight of her day. She loved her visits and loved spending time with them. Her ticket to longevity was to always eat dessert first!
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Valmond, Jr. (in WWII in the Pacific Theater as a Marine), Howard, Clyde and Clayton and five sisters: Alma, Irene, Gladys, Barbara (which whom she served as a long-time care giver) and Phyllis, as well as by a special niece, Leslie Bartholow.
She is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, including special nephew Jim Bartholow of Marietta, special great nephew Jamie (Angie) Bartholow of Galloway and special great niece, Jana Joseph of Syracuse, as well as special great, great nieces Avery and Peyton Bartholow and Brynlee Joseph and special great, great nephew Braeyn Joseph.
There will be no services, per her request. She will be buried next to her parents and brother, Valmond, Jr. at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, OH with an immediate burial on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11 am. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
