Leona Telka Duke
Leona Telka Duke, 90, of Williamstown, fell asleep in death at her home on Saturday, July 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 29,1922 in Weston, WV, daughter of John Means and Grace Cawthon Means.
Leona was a 1939 graduate of Williamstown High School. She was a dearly cherished, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, an artist, lover of birds, avid reader, tennis player, and known as an "amazing woman". As one of Jehovah's Witnesses her hope was to be part of the earthly resurrection under Christ's Kingdom.
On September 10,1942, she married Charles Duke who survives with 2 daughters, Lois "Betsy" Duke and Mary (Tim) Goode all of Williamstown; 7 grandchildren: Debbie, Dan, Matthew, Laurel and Rachel Reid, and Chad and Jordan Goode; 3 great grandchildren: Zoe, Isabella and Jamin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Charlee Reid, and sister Lois Fenton.
Memorial service will be held Saturday July 27 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall on College Parkway, Parkersburg. Her cremains will be joined with those of her daughter Charlee.
