John Brunicardi Kidd

John Brunicardi Kidd, 75, of Marietta Ohio, died peacefully at home on September 1, 2024, with his beloved wife Barb at his side.

He was born in Marietta, Ohio on October 5, 1948, to Mary (Brunicardi) and Melvin Kidd. John attended St. Mary’s Catholic School where he balanced his rebellious shenanigans with his duties as an altar boy, but it was only with his mother’s daily rosary prayers that he escaped childhood relatively unscathed. John moved to Columbus, Ohio as a young man where he met Karen (Raquet) Kidd, the loving mother of his two daughters. In Columbus, John spent much of his career in the stock brokerage industry as both a Broker and Operations Manager. He later became an entrepreneur but didn’t discover his true passion until he moved back to Marietta and worked on building his own piece of heaven, “Kiddland” in Reno, Ohio.

On July 11, 2015, John married the love of his life, Barb (Waterman Nourse) Kidd who he met while attending the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta. John and Barb built a loving circle of family and friends, enjoyed their life in the country, their gardens, bird feeders, the outdoors and one another until the very end. John was proud to be an avid Buckeye fan, a dedicated blood donor (3 gallons) and celebrated 33 years of sobriety.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Mary Kidd. He is survived by his devoted wife Barb Kidd, sisters Melary (Dennis) Slusser, Mara (John) Mitchem, daughters, Kellie (Pete Shuler) Kidd, Kari Ansel, grandchildren Mason, Liz, Mitchell, and Kaitlin and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place on October 5, 2024, at 1:00PM at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third Street, Marietta, Ohio. Additionally, a mass will be held in John’s name at The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 506 4th Street, Marietta, Ohio, on October 1, 2024, at 12:05PM.

The family wishes to thank the care and support provided by Dr. Kelly Cawley and the loving staff of Cawley Hospice, with special thanks to Caleigh Plauger. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cawley Hospice in Marietta Ohio. #VoteHarrisWalz2024.
