Bernadine M. Gibbs

Bernadine Mildred Hupp Gibbs, 88, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  She was born February 14, 1926, a daughter of Iva Ritchie and William Henry Hupp. Bernadine attended the Salvation Army as a child and was active there for many years.  She had many hobbies and friends and loved softball, football, bowling, cards and many other sports.  She and her husband belonged to the VFW for 33 years and American Legion for 31.  He belonged to both until his death.  She also belonged to many  bowling leagues for over 40 years and the 600 Club.

On December 24, 1943, at the Salvation Army, she married Edward Gibbs who preceded her in death on September 23, 1973.  He served in WWII in the Philippines and Okinawa.

Bernadine is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters:  Richard Ray (Diane) Gibbs and Martin Wayne (Deb) Gibbs both of Marietta, Raean Darlene (Jim) Davis of North Carolina, Jo Dora (John) Richardson of St. Marys; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Mashellda Gibbs; and 3 adopted sons:  Earl, Trent, Kevin.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Michael Steven Gibbs; 3 brothers and 2 sisters:  Merle (who died at birth), Clifford and Clarence Hupp, Edith Hill and Louise Schafer.

Funeral services will be held on 11 am Monday September 15th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 pm with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
