Imogene Platounaris

Imogene Platounaris, 81, of Marietta passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening, September 5, 2013, at Selby General Hospital.    She was born on December 23, 1931, at Marietta a daughter of Ora B. and Olive Marie Hutchinson.  Imogene had been employed at the YMCA and The Woman’s Home.

Imogene was a member of the R.S.V.P. Crafters and a member of the Muskingum Garden Club. She loved the simple pleasures in life. Some of her most noted talents were quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Her favorite pastimes were reading Mother Earth Magazine, keeping up with her daily journal and searching for new antique treasures. She often reminisced about her life growing up on a farm and was full of stories about her childhood. She loved raising chickens and ducks as pets.

Imogene always made spending time with her family and friends a priority and her grandchildren especially are thankful to have had such a special relationship with her. She was a patient and affectionate teacher who always had a creative remedy for any problem, big or small.

Imogene had the most beautiful crystal blue eyes and warm smile. One of her favorite pleasures was walking barefoot through the cool green grass. She loved going on long scenic drives with her best friends, Gale Hupp and Carolyn Brookover, and finding a new restaurant to try. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society of Washington County.
