  • Carole Sue Sparks Marsee

    Carole Sue Sparks Marsee, 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Marietta, Ohio. She was born March 23, 1944, in Washington County, Ohio, a daughter of Flossie L. Clark Sparks and Herbert M. Sparks.
    Carole graduated from Marietta High School in 1962, she also graduated from Washington Technical College in 1987 with a degree in accounting. She worked in retail and food service the majority of her life, and in later years she also enjoyed arranging flowers to sell at Rinks Flea Market in Marietta. She also enjoyed word searches, coloring, and spending time with her family shopping or sharing meals.

  • Robert M. “Bob” Coil

    Robert M. “Bob” Coil, 81, passed away early Sunday morning September 8, 2024, due to complications from a fall on August 5.
    He was a member of the Marietta High School class of 1961 and was proud to be a 1959 state cross country meet qualifier for legendary Tiger track coach Bob Annasenz. He attended Ohio University, and then served in the US Army in the AG corps from 1962-1964. After two weeks of “peeling potatoes” in Stuttgart, Germany, he received a TDY to Geneva, Switzerland where he was immediately trained in typing and shorthand and assigned to Army Staff HQ. Near the end of his two years in Geneva, he was loaned out to be an Army stenographer to the State Department during the 1964 Geneva Nuclear Disarmament talks. It depended on the day as to whether he was prouder of that service or running a 4:47 mile in combat boots during his basic training.

    L. Jane Hardesty Walker, 75, of Marietta passed away at 10:30 am, Friday, September 6, 2024. She was born February 22, 1949, in Parkersburg a daughter of James S. Hardesty and Gertrude Lee VanAman.
    Jane was a graduate of Marietta High School and Dental Hygienist School in Columbus. She retired from Jobs & Family Services after 30 years. She was the first woman to serve on Marietta City Council. She was an avid reader and wonderful writer and she had an infectious laugh and never had a bad word about anyone. She loved her family, especially grandchildren and was a dog lover.

    Wilda M. Eddy, 80, of Marietta passed away at 5:00 pm, Friday, September 6, 2024, at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg. She was born January 13, 1944, in Greenbrier, WV, a daughter of Hubert Brooks and Ida Hendricks Brooks. She was retired from K–Mart.
    Wilda married Ronald L. Eddy, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2021.

  • John Brunicardi Kidd

    John Brunicardi Kidd, 75, of Marietta Ohio, died peacefully at home on September 1, 2024, with his beloved wife Barb at his side.
    He was born in Marietta, Ohio on October 5, 1948, to Mary (Brunicardi) and Melvin Kidd. John attended St. Mary’s Catholic School where he balanced his rebellious shenanigans with his duties as an altar boy, but it was only with his mother’s daily rosary prayers that he escaped childhood relatively unscathed. John moved to Columbus, Ohio as a young man where he met Karen (Raquet) Kidd, the loving mother of his two daughters.

  • Robert “Bob” Lee

    Robert “Bob” Lee, 67, of Marietta, OH, passed away on August 31, 2024. He was born on August 10, 1957, in Morgantown, WV son to Marvin Lee of Marietta, OH and Judy Littleton of Lowell, OH.
    Bob was a retired plant operator at Colgate-Palmolive and a talented motorcycle mechanic. His passion for the wind of the open road and scenery of nature could only be eclipsed by his love and care for those he let into his heart. A strong and passionate man, Bob was best known to those closest to him for being a loving father, caring and reliable friend, storyteller, and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a bear to face in a chess match and knew every song that came on the radio, concisely recalling the lyrics to make a point or applying them comically to a situation.

  • Marjorie Marie Mary Tullius Gutberlet Duff

     
    Marjorie Marie Mary Tullius Gutberlet Duff, 94, of Marietta passed away August 27, 2024, at Waterview Pointe. Marjorie was born May 11, 1930, in Lowell, Ohio, the youngest of nine to Andrew W. and Dora Mae Gates Tullius.
    She had many jobs and interest in her life, a beautician, cake decorator and tole painter for a few. She went to England to teach tole painting twice.
